About SouthStaffDogs

Professional Dog Behaviour and Obedience Training Across Wolverhampton, Stafford, Cannock & Surrounding Areas

AKEIL'S STORY

THE TRAINER BEHIND THE LEAD

My name is Akeil, founder and lead trainer at Southstaffdogs, based in Codsall and
covering Wolverhampton, Stafford, Cannock and the surrounding areas.

Having grown up around working dogs, particularly German Shepherds and
Staffordshire Bull Terriers, dogs have always been a huge part of my life. With over 19
years of experience handling dogs on a daily basis and three years working as a
full-time professional dog trainer, I have had the privilege of helping hundreds of dogs
and their owners.

My journey to creating Southstaffdogs came after heartbreakingly witnessing too
manydogs being rehomed, or facing even worse outcomes, due to behavioural issues
thatcould potentially have been addressed with the right support, understanding and
training. I wanted to use my passion, knowledge and experience to make a real
difference in the lives of dogs and their owners.

I believe every dog is an individual. Their age, breed, personality, experiences and
motivations all play a part in how they learn and behave. That's why I don't believe in a
one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I take the time to understand each dog and their
owner, creating a tailored training plan that works for them.

I primarily focus on positive training and creating a positive learning environment,
while also believing in a balanced approach with clear and fair boundaries. I believe
effective communication is key to helping dogs understand what is expected of them
and building a stronger relationship between dog and owner.

My experience with German Shepherds has taught me just how different every dog can be, even within the same breed. I am lucky to be supported by my three beautiful German Shepherd colleagues, Narla, Kiara and DK, who each have their own unique personalities and are a huge part of the Southstaffdogs family.

Alongside my dogs, I also have the amazing support of my partner and young son, who are a huge part of my life and my journey.

For me, there is no better feeling than seeing the positive impact training can have — watching a dog's confidence grow, seeing challenging behaviours improve and knowing that I've helped create a happier life for both the dog and their owner.

Whether you're welcoming a puppy into your family or looking for help with more complex behavioural challenges, I am here to help. I offer training for all dogs, regardless of age, breed or temperament, with a commitment to understanding what makes your dog unique and finding an approach that works for you both.

My goal is simple: to help you better understand your dog, build a stronger relationship and enjoy life together.

Narla has always been a well-behaved and responsive dog, thriving with positive reinforcement. Her calm and neutral nature makes her the perfect companion when working with reactive or aggressive dogs.

Kiara is a strong-minded and driven German Shepherd who remains calm and neutral around reactive or aggressive dogs. Her confident nature allows her to naturally communicate boundaries with other dogs.

DK is my German Shepherd x Belgian Malinois, a highly driven working dog. After being gifted to me in 2024, she's made incredible progress through dedication and intensive training and is now a valued member of my team.

Presa Canario x Labrador. He came to me at one after biting a teen, hating strange men & taking issue with every dog he saw. He’s now enjoying off-lead freedom, mixing with dogs and meeting new people without issue.

"We believe training should be enjoyable for both dogs & owners. Our Methods are based on modern, science-led, reward-based training using food, toys, praise and play to encourage desirable behaviours"
