When I first started working with Akeil, Issy struggled with reactivity, and it was something that could be difficult and worrying for both of us. I desperately wanted to help her, but I needed someone who would take the time to understand why she behaved the way she did, rather than simply trying to change her.
Akeil did exactly that.
He took the time to understand Issy, her personality, her triggers and what she needed from me. His patience, knowledge and genuine care have made such an incredible difference. He never judged me or Issy — instead, he gave me the understanding, confidence and tools to help her.
The transformation in Issy has honestly been amazing. She is calmer, more confident and so much better equipped to cope with situations that once would have been overwhelming for her. We still have things to work on, but the progress she has made is something I’m incredibly proud of.
And it hasn’t just transformed Issy — it has transformed me as a dog owner too. I understand her so much better now, and our bond has grown because of it.

Poppy
"After rescuing Poppy, a cane corso puppy at 13 week old, she rapidly grew from 16kg to 50kg. Its was clear from the moment I got her home just how reactive she was towards other dogs, after a set too with our other dog the moment we walked through the door.
She would lunge up into the air barking and pulling at other dogs, it was so dangerous as she would pull me into the road.
I reached out to Akeil, who showed us the correct tools to use and gave us the best detailed training.
After 1-2-1 sessions, attending obedience classes and weekly pack walks, I can honestly say she is a different dog!
She now has full off lead freedom, walks nicely with out pulling and can control her impulses around other dogs.
Which none of that would have been possible without the amazing guidance and training of Akeil!
Jackson
"I am a firm believer in fate after accidentally meeting Akeil at a dog park. My dog was reacting to the dog he was training in an adjacent field. I watched in amazement as he kept the other dog calm and reassured me that my dog wasn’t causing a nuisance. At that moment I knew I wanted him to work with Jackson. Not only did he appear to know what he was doing he wasn’t phased by my reactive dog.
Jackson had already been to three different trainers and a doggy daycare facility with very little impact on his behaviour. The first trainer was as Jackson was a puppy. His style was rather aggressive- which didn’t suit me and made my already anxious boy even more barky. We tried doggy daycare but he kept trying to escape. So we tried another trainer- he encouraged me to keep a distance from other dogs and observe but after 6 months there was no progress at all. The third suggested I medicate him and after 6 sessions conceded I should find another trainer as she didn’t know what to do. So I resorted to private fields where he could burn off his lurcher energy! But even then he would go crazy if other dogs were on the adjacent field. In the meantime his reactivity and aggression at home and outside continued to intensify. I was beginning to think there was no hope. It was at the field I met Akeil. He reassured me that Jackson could be more manageable. I’d heard that before so was dubious. We started lessons straight away- first in the private field so he could assess and identify Jackson’s needs. This was the first trainer that wasn’t afraid of him. From the first lesson I was amazed!! After just three lessons he said we were ready for the public! He’s absolutely the type to push for success. I could tell straight away his biggest priority was improving the dog’s behaviour and my skills to handle him. Akeil stripped it all back to basics- I needed to teach my dog how to relax. Jackson also needed to know that he wasn’t in charge. He had to learn boundaries. Akeil suggested I invest in a crate to give him his space and taught me how to use it successfully. He also encouraged me to muzzle train Jackson which has been transformational. We even looked at his diet and the times he was fed - all of the basics which impacted on his behaviour.
In our training sessions, Jackson went from being around other dogs on a private field, to quiet, open spaces to popular parks to pack walks. From short leads to long leads to off lead. Akeil has literally been a lifesaver for Jackson and can’t recommend him enough. I’ve had friends and strangers comment on how much calmer he is.
I can go to pubs and restaurants and he will relax whilst I socialise. Akeil has totally transformed our lives!
However, I must also give a massive shout out to his training buddies. Narla has been so patient with Jackson. Kiara has been a playful bundle of energy whilst DK keeps him on his toes. Hugo has knocked him down a peg or two which is just what Jackson needed. A totally amazing pack of dogs for a totally amazing trainer!!!

Mylo
"This is Mylo, my giant 11-month-old Great Dane puppy.
We’ve been working with SouthStaffdogs since the end of January 2026, when Mylo was just four months old. Even at such a young age, Mylo already had so much strength behind him, and our walks were becoming increasingly unenjoyable for both of us due to constant lead pulling, puppy biting and all the usual puppy behaviours.
With reassurance, guidance and support from Akeil, we were able to address these behaviours early on and start building a strong foundation for Mylo.
We opted for the x12 one-to-one Puppy Foundations package, where we worked on recall, obedience, loose-lead walking and, importantly, learning how to coexist around other people and dogs in a calm and neutral manner.
It’s been amazing to see how far Mylo has come. The skills we’ve worked on during our one-to-one sessions have been put to the test through regular puppy classes, weekly pack walks and our everyday walks, and we’ve seen a huge difference in both his behaviour and confidence.
Training has not only helped Mylo, but has also given me much more confidence in handling such a big, strong breed and understanding how to communicate with him effectively. What once felt overwhelming has become something we genuinely enjoy doing together.
We’re now excited to move on to the next stage of our training journey with off-lead training. Our goal is to give Mylo the freedom to explore, run and enjoy the world beyond the restriction of a lead, while still having the reliability and foundations to keep him safe.
We’re incredibly proud of the progress Mylo has made and so grateful for all the support and guidance we’ve received along the way.

Luna
"I started training with my German Shepherd, Luna, when she was 8 months old and full of chaotic teenage energy. Fast forward to 16 months, and she has calmed down significantly, learned how to settle beautifully inside the house, and is an all-around better-behaved dog. While she doesn’t struggle with frustrated greetings in open fields on a long lead anymore, she does still find street walks challenging, and we are actively working through that together.I was initially very anxious when Akeil recommended using a prong and e-collar. However, he took the time to thoroughly explain the correct application, showed me how to use them safely, and reassured me that they do not hurt her when used right. Now, I am completely comfortable using them.Akeil also runs great obedience classes and weekend pack walks that are incredibly welcoming and have been amazing for us. If you want a trainer who truly understands high-energy breeds and supports you through every step of the process, I highly recommend him!"
Dobbie
"We contacted Akeil when our Doberman, Dobbie, was just five months old. He taught us the essential commands such as sit, heel and stay, which gave us a great foundation. However, as Dobbie grew bigger and stronger, we began to struggle with walking him safely.
He would display reactivity to other dogs when I was alone with Dobbie.
We tried different collars and harnesses from pet stores, but he was incredibly strong and pulled constantly, making it particularly difficult for my daughter to walk him.
Akeil took the time to understand our concerns and introduced us to the right tool for our dog, initially, I was a little unsure about using anything other than harness and collar and felt that it wasn’t necessary, but Akeil carefully showed us how to properly use training tools. It has honestly been a game changer for us.
With Akeil’s guidance, we are now able to walk Dobbie safely and with much greater confidence. Most importantly, Dobbie is enjoying his walks far more because he is calmer and easier to manage.
Akeil has also worked with us on getting Dobbie accustomed to distractions such as passing lorries and motorbikes, which has made a huge difference to his confidence and our confidence as owners.
